More money secured for notorious intersection

Published on 02 May 2024

We all know that the intersection of Samuel Road, Greenock Road and Moppa Road South in Nuriootpa is notoriously difficult to navigate for locals, truckies and tourists, and has been for some time now.

You may be aware that in 2022 the then Federal Liberal Government committed $1.95 million to deliver a roundabout, and all the planning work has been ongoing since then.

Knowing the importance of this project for our community, I’ve been lobbying the State Government to use the upcoming budget to ensure any additional funds required to progress this project were provided.

Recently, in a win for the community an additional $650,000 was committed by the State Government and Light Council!

Getting this project off the ground has been a big community effort, with a lot of passionate locals getting behind the push for a roundabout. Last year I also personally showed the then Minister for Regional Roads the intersection, so he could see for himself how difficult it was to navigate.

This news will be a great relief to locals, help deliver a better and safer solution and it’ll be great to see this project done!
