The Office of Recreation and Sport recently announced the successful applicants of the latest Active Club grant program, and Member for Schubert Ashton Hurn has been actively presenting certificates to local sports clubs that received funding under the program.

“These grants have been a big help for grassroots sports clubs, enabling them to purchase a wide range of necessary equipment - from netballs and soccer goals to defibrillators, tennis balls, as well as equipment to support swimmers,” Mrs Hurn said.

“Local sports clubs play a big role in our region, building community spirit and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles and these grants of either $1500 or $3000 make a significant difference.

“The cost of equipment can be a hurdle for grassroots clubs, particularly for essentials that need frequent replacement, and this grant program aims to ensure our clubs are well-equipped and can continue to thrive.

“I have more certificates to present and look forward to acknowledging the hard work and dedication of our local sports clubs in person.”
